JAKARTA, Mosulbar.com - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, officially welcomed President of the Republic of South Africa, Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, in a state ceremony with full honors at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

The state visit marks an important milestone in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and South Africa, two major nations of the Global South that play pivotal roles in advancing cooperation and solidarity among developing countries.

In his welcoming remarks, President Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to deepen and expand cooperation with South Africa across various sectors. He emphasized the importance of partnership among Global South nations in addressing global challenges and promoting shared prosperity.

“Indonesia remains committed to strengthening ties and enhancing cooperation with South Africa, especially as fellow nations of the Global South with great potential and shared aspirations,” President Prabowo stated.

The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the long-standing friendship between the two countries. President Prabowo also expressed his hope that President Ramaphosa’s visit would mark a new chapter of closer relations, particularly in global forums such as BRICS.

President Ramaphosa, in his remarks, conveyed his deep appreciation for the warm welcome extended by the Government and people of Indonesia. He emphasized that the state visit carries significant meaning for South Africa and stands as a testament to the strong and growing partnership between the two nations.

“This visit is of great importance to South Africa. We see Indonesia as a strategic partner in strengthening cooperation across various sectors, particularly in trade, investment, and economic development,” President Ramaphosa said.

He further expressed South Africa’s commitment to enhancing economic cooperation with Indonesia, with the goal of fostering sustainable and substantive growth in trade and investment between the two countries.
